ALOHA PETROLEUM AND PARENT COMPANIES DONATE $100,000 TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO SUPPORT MAUI RELIEF AND RECOVERY EFFORTS
Aloha to also launch an in-store fundraising effort to further help local residents
HONOLULU, HAWAII (August 17, 2023) – Aloha Petroleum (Aloha) today announced, in partnership with its parent companies Sunoco LP and Energy Transfer, it will donate $100,000 in support of Maui relief and recovery efforts. Additionally, Aloha has launched an in-store fundraising initiative providing customers an opportunity to show their aloha for the community by donating to Hawaii Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund.
Aloha has donated $50,000 to Maui relief and recovery efforts, including:
· $25,000 to Maui Food Bank to provide food to those displaced by the fires and
· $25,000 to Maui Economic Opportunity Inc. to provide support for individuals and families affected by securing transitional housing.
Aloha’s parent companies, Sunoco LP and Energy Transfer, have also donated $50,000 through their foundation as follows:
· $25,000 to American Red Cross (Pacific Islands Region) to shelter people who have been displaced by the fires and
· $25,000 to The Salvation Army (Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division) to meet the immediate needs of individuals and families impacted by the wildfire.
The Energy Transfer/Sunoco Foundation has a long history of supporting disaster relief efforts and annually donates to both the American Red Cross and Salvation Army, which enables them to prepare and respond immediately when a disaster occurs.
In addition, Aloha will collect cash donations for Hawaii Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund at its Aloha Island Mart locations on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island through the end of September. Aloha will match the donations collected up to $15,000 and make its own contribution of no less than $10,000. For a complete list of locations, visit https://www.alohaislandmart.com/locations/
